Treasure Hunt Stories From The Mountains

Three of us gals drove to Big Bear to help out a Missionary couple who was invited to share testimony then lead teams into the downtown area.

DJ shared stories with the youth group then invited his teen and pre-teen kids to share their personal stories doing the same. More stories were told, the group was ready to break out and do the same.

We gathered in a circle, DJ prayed impartation, then the group began to call out clues as they received them.

We ended up writing down TWO PAGES OF CLUES! I was amazed at the amount of revelation, as most of our group was youth. The group drove to an area which was confirmed through multiple clues, from multiple people.

After we drove to the downtown area we formed groups, I think there were four groups maybe five that went out in different directions.

The youth pastor K., myself and his son went out together. It was not long until we found a group of three matching a couple of our clues. Upon closer inspection we noticed they matched a third clue, then a fourth became apparent, then a fifth!

In all my experience doing this sort of evangelism, this is unique. And I must say that each time there is multiple clues matched to an individual or group, the more God stuff happens whether in our presence or following the encounter.

They allowed us to pray for them, we spoke words of prophecy and destiny over them which they received. I set my hands on the shoulders of both young woman as we prayed for them. Received words of knowledge but assigned the words backwards, i.e. I got good words but addressed them to the wrong person. Humbling moment. Next time mention the word, ask who it applies to!

The youth pastor got some great words for the young man which he received. Turns out the three of them live not far from me, yet we met up in Big Bear!

Next our team of three walked into an arcade. we saw a family that resembled some of our clues but I just kept feeling like they would not receive, so I suggested we go since it appeared they owned the place. OK, humbled again, another team went in, pressed through some negative initial reaction by one I seem to recall from later testimony. It was a great encounter, lesson two, press in past the negative read.

The youth pastor K, his son and I continued walking through the downtown outdoor mall. We passed a group of three going the opposite direction and as we did I felt such an incredible unction to turn around and engage them in conversation I could not not follow through!

We told them what we were doing, took notice of the crosses they were wearing and asked them if K and his son B could practice praying for them since this type of evangelism was new to them.

They agreed. Turns out L. has glaucoma, a right eye condition which matched a clue received earlier. We prayed twice. She did not sense anything while receiving prayer but was glad for the prayer. We discovered she lived only a short distance from my house back in OC. I handed her a card from a ministry I oversee, I asked permission to stay in contact with her, she will be having surgery soon. She gladly accepted. As I handed her the business card to the Healing Room, her sister-in-law asked if I knew a woman by the name of ----, turns out I do. One of my team members pray regularly with L's sister-in-law and has been hearing stories about the Healing Room. Here we are in Big Bear meeting because I am out with teams doing market place evangelism.

I felt a rush of God's presence jolt through me, which caused me to have to sit down.

God's power to orchestrate circumstances in order to demonstrate His power and Kingdom overwhelmed me. When you consider the connections, which were made nearly one hundred miles from home, six people in two groups of three walking past each other, having no clue of a mutual acquaintance, meet, begin to talk, pray, talk, then realize God's hand in bringing us together for multiple purposes I have no doubt.

It's amazing for many reasons. But let me emphasize that not one of the six of us had to work at making the encounter happen. My team was out making ourselves available to God's leading, while L and her brother and sister-in-law were enjoying a day in the mountains. God made sure we met. I just love being amazed by God.

If we, the body of Christ, could just stop our striving long enough to get a hold of this dynamic. He has been speaking to me about His rest, even when I am "out" in the market place sharing the gospel. I don't have to strive or push to "make" encounters happen.

I can tell multiple stories now which would testify to God's power to lead us right into the perfect place at the perfect time in order to accomplish His purpose in the moment. In each case God set up the clue, the timing, and the words to speak, all I had to do was walk with expectation, alert and ready to move under God's leading in the moment.

Romans 10:14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

John 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father".
